The Centre is a Platinum Sponsor to the 2024 edition of the Istanbul Arbitration Week (ISTAW) which will be held from September 30th to October 4th in Istanbul.

The Centre convened its fifth Board of Directors meeting to discuss various proposals on August 9, 2024. Presided over by the President of the Board, Mr. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, the meeting concluded with the unanimous adoption of the “OIC-AC Mediation Rules” along with several other significant initiatives.

Secretary-General Dr. Oseni delivered a keynote speech at the Indonesia Dispute Board (IDB) Forum held on 29 and 30 July 2024 in Tanjung Pinang, Kepulauan Riau Province, Indonesia.

Hasan Taşkın, President of the Union Council of the World Electronic Press (UCWEP) paid a courtesy visit to the Secretariat.

Secretary-General Dr. Umar attended the  57th Session of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) in New York, where numerous legal texts to remove legal obstacles to international trade were adopted.

The OIC Arbitration Centre and Indonesia Dispute Board (IDB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 11 June 2024.

The OIC Arbitration Centre held a Panel under the theme “OIC Arbitration Centre: Global Alternative Dispute Resolution” on 10 June 2024 in Istanbul, on the sidelines of the “3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Trade Preferential System among the Member States of the OIC (TPS-OIC) Trade Negotiating Committee”.

Secretary-General Dr. Oseni delivered a presentation at the “Trade Preferential System among the Member States of the OIC (TPS-OIC) Business Roundtable” organized by TOBB in Istanbul.

A delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Ms. Abdullaeva Shakhzoda Sobitovna, Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Lawyers’ Training Center at the Ministry of Justice paid a courtesy visit to the OIC-AC headquarters.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Centre (OIC-AC) will hold a Panel under the theme “OIC Arbitration Centre: Global Alternative Dispute Resolution” on 10 June 2024 at 14.30-16.30 hrs in Istanbul, on the sidelines of the “3rd Ministerial Meeting of the TPS-OIC Trade Negotiating Committee”.

The “Arbitration Days Symposium” co-organized by the OIC-AC and Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Law was held from 23 to 24 May 2024 in Turkish.

The OIC-AC participated in the inaugural AlBaraka Istanbul Summit held from 24 to 25 May 2024. 

Secretary-General Dr. Oseni attended the 40th Session of COMCEC Follow-Up Committee Meeting in Ankara scheduled from 22 to 23 May 2024.

Secretary-General Dr. Oseni attended the reception generously hosted by H.E. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) which was held on the occasion of the 80th General Assembly of TOBB.

The “Arbitration Days Symposium” co-organized by the OIC-AC and Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Law will take place in Istanbul on 23 and 24 May 2024.

The OIC-AC supported and participated in the inaugural Istanbul Arbitration Days organized by Istanbul Arbitration Centre / ISTAC on 18-20 April 2024.

Ms. Sabina Ganieva, Executive Administrator, and Ms. Sofia Aseeva, Case Counsel, of the Russian Arbitration Center (RAC) at the Russian Institute on Modern Arbitration visited the OIC-AC Headquarters in Istanbul.

The OIC-AC has appointed Dr. Umar. A. Oseni as its Secretary-General.  Dr. Oseni, who has warmly been welcomed, brings a wealth of experience in legal and compliance, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), Islamic finance, and strategic leadership to the OIC-AC.

The OIC-AC and Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University  (AHBV) entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The OIC-AC is pleased to inform you of entering a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Arbitration and Mediation Center (ITOTAM).

The Secretariat participated at the “Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Arbitration and Mediation Center (ITOTAM) & International Court of Arbitration in Prague (PRIAC) Joint Turkish-Czech Arbitration and Business Law Conference & Investment and Business Forum.

Acting Secretary-General Dr. Alper Çağrı Yılmaz paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Walid Abdelwahab, the Director of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) Regional Hub in Türkiye. Nihan Çetin, Head of Marketing and Public Relations, and Havva Nur Getiren, Legal Counsel accompanied Dr. Yılmaz. Ali Rıza Kayar, Project Management Specialist at IsDB accompanied Dr. Abdelwahab.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Centre (OIC-AC) is pleased to inform of entering into the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Russian Institution of Modern Arbitration (RIMA).

The Secretariat participated at the 18th ICC Türkiye Arbitration Day held on 16.02.2024. The event panels concentrated on Turkish international arbitration case-law, the use of artificial intelligence in arbitration, and corruption challenges. We extend our sincere thanks to ICC Türkiye for organizing this fruitful event.

OIC-AC and the SOAS Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Centre (SADRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 21 December 2023.

The OIC-AC held its first side event at the margins of the 39th COMCEC on 5 December 2023. The panel titled “OIC Arbitration Centre: Global Alternative Dispute Resolution” was moderated by Secretary-General Maged Mamdouh Kamel.

The OIC-AC will organize the Panel “OIC Arbitration Centre: Global Alternative Dispute Resolution” on 5 December 2023, at the sidelines of the 39th Session of the COMCEC.

Mr. Hasan Ali Kulak, Legal Counsel of the Istanbul Financial Center, paid a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the OIC-AC. He met w/ Secretary-General J.D. Kamel, Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Alper Çağrı Yılmaz, and Head of Marketing and PR Nihan Çetin. Deputy Secretay-General Dr. Yılmaz briefed Mr. Kulak on the establishment process, structure, and competencies of the OIC-AC, and elaborated on the 2023 Arbitration Rules, which strictly adhere to party autonomy, efficiency, and neutrality.

OIC-AC Secretary-General J.D. Kamel paid courtesy visits to numerous alternative dispute resolution (ADR) stakeholders in the Arab Republic of Egypt in November 2023. During his visits, including, among others, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Investment, J.D. Kamel briefed the High-Level Egyptian authorities on the main objectives of the Centre, its mission, vision, and core values.

J.D. Maged Mamdouh Kamel Shebaita, Secretary-General of the OIC-AC paid a courtesy visit to Ambassador Lazar Comanescu, Secretary-General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) on 9 November 2023. The meeting took place at the BSEC premises in Istanbul. Nihan Çetin, LLM, Head of Marketing and Public Relations and Havva Nur Getiren, Legal Advisor, accompanied J.D.Kamel. Kanan Murtuzov, Executive Manager, accompanied Ambassador Comanescu.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Centre (OIC-AC) and Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Law (https://www.aydin.edu.tr/en-us/akademik/fakulteler/hukuk/Pages/default.aspx) will jointly organise a Symposium in Istanbul on 20-24 May 2024. The Symposium will mark the inaugural Istanbul Arbitration Days.
