The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Centre (OIC-AC) was a Diamond Partner at the 2nd AlBaraka Summit in London, entitled “Islamic Economy in the United Kingdom: Reality and Opportunities.” The Summit took place at London’s JW Marriott Grosvenor House on 28 and 29 October 2023.
The OIC-AC’s Secretary-General, J.D. Maged Mamdouh Kamel Shebaita accepted a plaque on behalf of the OIC-AC that was presented in appreciation of the OIC-AC’s status as Diamond Partner on the morning of 28 October 2023. The plaque was presented by the AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy’s Secretary-General, H.E. Yousef Hassan Khalawi.
Secretary-General Shebaita chaired the second session of the Summit entitled “The Legacy of Islamic Economy: From the United Kingdom to the World. The Foundations of Islamic Economics in Knowledge”. In his opening remarks at the Session, the Secretary-General thanked the AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy for organising the Summit, which constituted one of the world’s most effective platforms to raise awareness of thecharacteristics of Islamic finance and contribute to its development. He went on to stress the fruitful efforts of H.E. Sheikh Saleh Abdullah Kamel and his successor, H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Saleh Kamel aimed at introducing Islamic finance to the UK from the early 1980s onwards.
AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy is an independent, non-profit, global think tank, specialising in Islamic economy in its holistic sense.
The Forum seeks to enrich the research resources and serve the knowledge structure of the Islamic economy, as well as to build partnerships and alliances with regional and international entities to foresee contemporary economic challenges and developments, in order to keep pace with Islamic economy and finance.
