I.About OIC- AC
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Centre (OIC-AC) is the investment and commercial dispute resolution platform established in Istanbul, Türkiye to promote arbitration and alternative dispute resolution by providing a reliable and professional mechanism that significantly reduces, if not eliminates, the risks, costs and uncertainties of large-scale transactions. Since party-autonomy and confidentiality are two main values of the OIC-AC, it attaches greater importance to the privacy policy.
II.Privacy Statement of the OIC-AC
The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to inform you of the procedures regarding the collection, use and disclosure of information on the OIC-AC web-site (hereinafter the “Site”) accessible on: https://www.oic-ac.org/ to fulfil the OIC-AC’s legal obligations pursuant to the Personal Data Protection Law No.6698 (PDPL). OIC-AC encourages you to read this Privacy Policy carefully.
Through visiting the Site and providing information to the OIC-AC you acknowledged that you have been informed and you consent to this Privacy Policy including the disclosure of your personal information may be collected when you visit the Site, register for the events, file the forms, submit any documents and / or send a request for any services provided by the OIC-AC.
If you do not want your personal information to be used by OIC-AC in the manner described in this Privacy Policy, please do not provide your personal information to OIC-AC.
III. Nature of the Information Collected
1. Personal Data
In order to receive information about OIC-AC and its services, to contact OIC-AC for any questions or comments, to request OIC-AC services, or to register for OIC-AC events or trainings, you may choose to provide some personal information. These data collected is strictly necessary with the purposes described in the Section IV.
The categories of personal information that OIC-AC may collect for the processing purposes described hereto are:
Identification data such as family name, first name, nationality;
Demographic data such as country of residence;
Professional data such as organization, job title, activity, type of business, nature and circumstances of the dispute;
Contact data such as, address, email address and mobile phone number.
When visiting our website, requesting OIC-AC services, registering for events or contacting the OIC-AC for any questions and/or comments, some information is automatically collected to the digital tools that enable us to improve the services provided.
Specifically, the information we automatically collect may include information such as your IP address, device type, unique device identification number, browser type, broad geographic location (e.g., country or city level), and other technical information. OIC-AC may also collect information about how your device interacted with the Site, including pages viewed and links clicked. By collecting this information, we can better understand who is visiting our site, where they are coming from, and what content on our site is of interest to them. OIC-AC use this information for our internal analysis purposes and to improve the quality and relevance of our website for our visitors. IV. Purposes of Data Collection
OIC-AC will only use the personal data where permitted to do so by applicable law. Under Personal Data Protection Law No.6698, the processing is lawful only if and to the extent that one of the following legal basis applies. In this regard, legal basis for collecting and using the information will depend on the personal data concerned and the specific contact in which we collect it. However, collected data will be used to administer and perform our legal services – including to carry out our obligations arising from dispute resolution services, to manage your membership and to engage with you in OIC-AC projects and activities.
Furthermore, for communication or marketing purposes, we may send you news alerts, newsletters, e-mails or other communications about services that may be of interest to you. You may choose to unsubscribe or opt out of receiving further communications.
The collected data within this scope will be used to process and respond to your questions and/or inquiries, to evaluate the OIC-AC activities and analyse in order to improve provided services. In this respect, third parties on behalf of the OIC-AC, may also use information provided in an aggregate and anonymous form for internal business and planning purposes, including to analyse trends and statistics.
V. Data Retention
OIC-AC will only retain your personal information for as long as is necessary to complete the transaction for which it was collected or until you request that we cease to communicate with you in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
When you submit an inquiry to OIC-AC via our “Contact Us” form or online filling system, an email is sent directly to our secure email server. The details of your inquiry may be stored by OIC-AC in the email archives.
VI. Transfer of Data
For the purposes mentioned in section 4, OIC-AC may need to transfer and process the personal information in a country other than your country of residence and/or outside of Türkiye, to/in countries which may have different data protection laws.
In this case, OIC-AC will put in place reasonable and adequate operational, organizational, procedural, and technical measures in order to ensure the security and confidentiality of the personal data.
VII. Security
Protecting your privacy and your personal information is a priority for OIC-AC. OIC-AC has taken reasonable measures to protect your personal information from loss, misuse and alteration. However, please be aware that no data transmission over the Internet or storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. OIC-AC can only take steps to help reduce the risks of unauthorized access to information/data. Each individual using the Internet user can also take steps to help protect his/her personal information and is encouraged to do so to further minimize the likelihood that a security incident may occur.
VIII. Rights
Pursuant to the Article 11 of Personal Data Protection Law;
“ (1) Each person has the right to request to the data controller about him/her;
a) to learn whether his/her personal data are processes or not,
b) to demand for information as to if his/her personal data have been processed,
c) to learn whether his/her personal data are processed or not,
d) to know the third parties to whom his personal data are transferred in country or abroad,
e) to request the rectification of the incomplete or inaccurate data, if any,
f) to request the erasure or destruction of his/her personal data under the conditions referred to in Article 7
g) to request reporting of the operations carried out pursuant to sub-paragraphs (d) and (e) to third parties to whom his/her personal data have been transferred,
h) to object to the occurrence of a result against the person himself/herself by analysing the data processed solely through automated systems,
i) to claim compensation for the damage arising from the unlawful processing of his/her personal data.”

IX.Links to Other Sites
The https://www.oic-ac.org/ site may contain links to or from a number of third party websites (hereinafter referred to as “Third Party Sites”). OIC-AC does not, in any way, control or operate the Third Party Sites. OIC-AC is not responsible for the privacy practices, content, policies or actions of the Third Party Sites. This Privacy Policy is only applicable to general information processed by the OIC-AC Sites, pursuant to information collected on OIC-AC Sites. The use of any information you may provide to third parties on Third Party Sites, or which such parties may otherwise collect on other websites, is not governed by this Privacy Policy.
X.Social Networks
Social media plug-ins of social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn or services with user-generated content features are integrated into the OIC-AC Sites. Where the OIC-AC Sites contain a plug-in to a social network site, these are clearly marked with a symbol. Registered trademarks of OIC-AC are marks indicated on the OIC-AC Sites and include licensors, in Türkiye and other countries. All other trademarks that appear on the OIC-AC Sites are the property of their respective owners.
You are prohibited from using, without permission, any of the marks, trademarks, trade names, service names, logos or other proprietary graphic appearing throughout the OIC-AC Sites.
XII. Updates to Privacy Policy
To the extent permitted by applicable law in your jurisdiction, OIC-AC may, from time to time, revise or update this Privacy Policy. You agree to be bound by such modifications or updates.
