The OIC-AC has been established as per its Statute and the Host Country Agreement between Türkiye and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA). Its establishment is the outcome of the resolutions in the 32nd, 33rd and 34th sessions of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the OIC (COMCEC), the 43rd, 44th and 45th sessions of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC, and the 27th Board of Directors meeting of the ICCIA.

The OIC-AC has been established to assist the parties, i.e., natural, and legal persons from the Member States of the OIC and Non-OIC States, to settle commercial and investment disputes through arbitration and other methods of alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

    The Board of Trustees

    The Board of Trustees of the OIC-AC consists of 11 members. Geographical diversity, solid know-how on alternative dispute resolution, and sound regional/global reputation are the substantive criteria for appointing the members of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is in charge of the formation of the aim and the policy of the OIC-AC, the appointment of the Board of Directors, and amendments to the Statute of the OIC-AC.

    The Board of Directors

    The Board of Directors of the OIC-AC consists of 7 members each of whom is among the prominent figures of their respective profession. Geographical diversity as well as solid know-how in law and arbitration are the substantive criteria in appointing the members of the Board of Trustees. Preparation, adoption, and revision of ADR rules and appointment of the members of the International Supervisory Board are among the duties of the Board of Directors.

    The Secretariat

    The Secretariat comprises the Secretary-General who shall be a qualified lawyer with at least 10 years of experience and knowledge of international arbitration, Deputy/Deputies to the Secretary-General, and a sufficient number of staff. The Secretariat is in charge of the day-to-day management of the OIC-AC and functions in accordance with the resolutions of the Board of Directors, the Statute of the OIC-AC, and the Rules.

    The International Supervisory Board

    The International Supervisory Board comprises 21 members, each of whom shall be a qualified lawyer with at least 10 years of experience and knowledge of international arbitration.
