Hasan Taşkın, President of the Union Council of the World Electronic Press (UCWEP) paid a courtesy visit to the Secretariat.
Ali Koray Büyükasar, Deputy President of UCWEP, Yusuf Ersoy, Organization Head, and Fatih Poyraz, Secretary-General of D-8 Businesspeople Platform accompanied Mr. Taşkın.
Mr. Taşkın was briefed about the structure, mission, vision, the latest accomplishments and forthcoming activities of the Centre, the advantages of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms vis a vis the traditional court system, and the effective role the press could play in raising awareness thereof on a global scale. Parties exchanged views on potential means of bilateral cooperation.
UCWEP defends the principles of journalistic integrity and journalism ethics, and the right of citizens to freely obtain information within the framework of correct and ethical rules. It aims to develop reputations by taking an active role in creating reliable sites among news sites and carry out studies that will encourage internet news sites to comply with the rules of the “World E-Press Professional Principles”.
