The OIC Arbitration Centre held a Panel under the theme “OIC Arbitration Centre: Global Alternative Dispute Resolution” on 10 June 2024 in Istanbul, on the sidelines of the “3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Trade Preferential System among the Member States of the OIC (TPS-OIC) Trade Negotiating Committee”.
OIC Member States delegation members, representatives of OIC Institutions and other International Organizations attending the Meeting, civil society representatives, businesspeople, academicians, lawyers and other ADR stakeholders attended the event.
The Panel kicked off with the welcoming remarks of the Moderator, Secretary-General Dr. Oseni. Subsequently, Prof. Cemile Demir Gökyayla, Assoc. Prof. Abdurrahman Çetin, Attorney at Law Pelin Baysal, and Dr. Oseni discussed ADR in OIC Investment Agreements, savings financing system, arbitrating disputes against sanctioned parties, and the strategic function of the OIC Arbitration Centre as a global hub for Islamic finance ADR, respectively.
The OIC Arbitration Centre and TPS-OIC are among the flagship projects of COMCEC. TPS-OIC, which has been effectuated in 2022 aims at fostering intra-OIC trade. It is based on three agreements, namely the Framework Agreement, the Protocol on Preferential Tariff Scheme (PRETAS) and the Rules of Origin.
