The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Centre (OIC-AC) and the Energy Disputes Arbitration Centre (EDAC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 5 October 2023 at the margins of Istanbul Arbitration Week (ISTAW).
J.D. Maged Mamdouh Kamel SHEBAITA, Secretary General of the OIC-AC, and Süleyman BOŞÇA, President of EDAC, signed the agreement on behalf of the OIC-AC and EDAC, respectively. The MoU envisages cooperation between the two institutions, which offer alternative dispute resolution (ADR) for legal disputes, in raising awareness about ADR and partnering to organise events and projects related to ADR.
Istanbul is hosting ISTAW, organised by EDAC, between 2-6 October 2023. The OIC-AC is among the platinum sponsors of ISTAW. The OIC-AC’s Secretary General SHEBAITA participated as a speaker for a panel held on 5 October 2023, the 4th day of ISTAW.
The OIC-AC emphasises at every opportunity that arbitration centres based in Türkiye and throughout the world are not inherently competitors of one another; on the contrary, the effective cooperation between such centres will drive the development of ADR.
